One quick flip and she’d be under him, pinned to the ground at his mercy. His body approved the idea, but his mind attempted to impose control. Although he relished the sensation of her length pressed against him, he winced at a jab to a scar along his ribs, and his inconvenient erection began to soften.

The absurdity of their plight made him smile. “I could make any number of suggestions in this position.” 

“You’re too wise for that.”

“Ummm. I will say this.” He slid his hands down her back, over her curves, and up her sides. “For such a soft lady, you have the sharpest elbows in the shire.”

His hands wrapped around her upper arms, and a rumble grew low in his belly.

He opened the sack and rummaged within. The cold medallion was easily located on the bottom, and he pulled it out, holding it by the thick chain.

“Ah, the standard of yer father’s clan.” She flashed a grin.

He turned his gaze from its twisting length and smiled back at her. “Of sorts.”

The shifting light revealed she again had that expression of awe.

Leif knew she was an innocent from her tentative acceptance of his tongue’s invasion, but he reveled in her willingness to match his desire and need with her own fire…He slid his lips along her cheek until he could alternate gliding his tongue and nipping his way down her neck to her collar bone. There, he peppered her flesh with the lightest kisses that seemed to just graze her skin. Rather than soothe her need and bring their tryst to an end, it seemed to spur Sigrid on further. She pulled his hair, and when he raised his head, she dove in for another searing kiss…It was only when they were both out of breath they pulled apart.
